What does Nicaragua require?
Nicaragua's Code of Childhood and Adolescence (Law 287) establishes protections for minors at immigration checkpoints. The General Directorate of Immigration and Immigration and the Ministry of the Family, Adolescence and Childhood (MIFAN) oversee compliance with these rules at airports and borders.
Notarized authorization is required from the parent who is not traveling with the minor. Depending on the case, an apostille on the document may also be required.

Dual citizenship: If your child has a Nicaraguan ID or was born in Nicaragua, authorities apply Nicaraguan law. The US passport does not exempt compliance with local law.
